Able to describe the overlay creation process, and exceptions to following the NSS baselines if the system does not meet all criteria specified in CNSSI 1253 as presumptions for using standard NSS baseline. Ability to explain what the loss of confidentiality, integrity and availability impact will be. Knowledgeable on 1253 security controls have an emphasis on networked systems.

Should be able to explain that there are very few security controls with a straight forward application to embedded systems. Able to explain that attack vectors for embedded computers may be from counterfeit components, FPGAs that have additional logic incorporated that is not in the design of the system, etc. Understand that ALL exploits are achieved through some form of memory manipulation and memory protection is imperative.

Must understand the four factors that drive a valid risk assessment are:
likelihood of attack occurrence and likelihood of attack success drive the likelihood portion of risk assessment and vulnerability assessment and criticality analysis drive the impact portion of risk assessment.

Must have mastery of excel to manipulate data in the Security assessment plan/Security assessment report, and work with overlay and templates. Also must be able to work with the templates created in Word and PowerPoint for the security plan and risk assessment brief.
